How to Cancel Your Subscription (and What Happens Next)

Cancel your plan yourself from the account page, understand exactly when access ends, what happens to your QR codes, and how to reactivate later.

What This Guide Covers

This guide shows you how to cancel a paid plan yourself, and explains exactly what happens to your billing, your access, and your QR codes afterwards.

Cancel From Your Account Page

  1. Go to Account (/account).
  2. Open the Subscription section.
  3. Click Cancel Plan.
  4. Confirm in the dialog that appears.

You do not need to email support to cancel.

What Cancelling Actually Does

Cancelling stops the next payment. It is not a refund of the period you are currently in.

Specifically:

  1. Your recurring billing instruction is cancelled at PayFast, so no further debits are taken.
  2. Your plan stays active for the rest of the period you have already paid for.
  3. Your subscription is marked CANCELLED and shows a "Cancels at period end" badge.
  4. A confirmation email is sent with the exact date your access ends.

When Does Access Actually End

Your paid features stay available until your current period end date, which is shown on the account page as the renewal date.

Example:

  • You are billed monthly and your period runs to 8 October.
  • You cancel on 8 September.
  • You keep full paid access until 8 October, then the account drops to the expired state.

You are not charged again in the meantime.

What Happens to Your QR Codes

Your QR codes are not deleted when you cancel.

After your paid period ends:

  1. Existing dynamic QR codes stop resolving to their destinations while the account is expired.
  2. Your codes, designs and scan history remain stored on your account.
  3. Reactivating a plan restores access to them.

Important for printed material: if you have already printed dynamic codes, they will stop working once the paid period ends. Reactivate before your period end date if the codes are still in circulation.

If Cancellation Fails

Cancellation depends on a live response from PayFast. If that call fails, we deliberately do not mark your plan as cancelled, because your billing instruction would still be active.

If you see an error:

  1. Your plan is unchanged and you have not been charged for the attempt.
  2. The failure is logged and our team is alerted to complete it for you.
  3. Contact support if you have not heard back within one business day.

Never assume a failed attempt cancelled your billing. Check the account page — if it still shows an active plan with a renewal date, the cancellation did not go through.

Auto-Pay vs Manual Plans

  • AUTO plans hold a recurring billing token. Cancelling removes that token so no future debit is taken.
  • MANUAL plans have no stored billing instruction. Cancelling simply stops future renewal invoices; there is nothing to cancel at the payment processor.

Either way, access runs to your current period end.

Reactivating Later

To come back:

  1. Go to Pricing (/pricing).
  2. Choose a plan and complete checkout.
  3. Your existing QR codes and scan history become available again.

If you cancelled while a period was still running and change your mind before it ends, you do not need to do anything — your plan is still active until that date.
