Static vs dynamicHonest comparison

A QR Code Monkey alternative for codes you can edit and track.

Free generators such as QR Code Monkey make good static codes. A static code is fixed the moment you print it and tells you nothing about who scanned it. If your code is going on a menu, a shop window or a business card, that is the point where a dynamic code pays for itself.

20 dynamic codes during the trial. No credit card to start.

Static vs dynamic: which one do you need?

Use a free static code if

  • the link will never change
  • you do not need scan numbers
  • reprinting is cheap, or it is a one-off

Use a dynamic code if

  • it is on menus, packaging, signage or business cards
  • you want to fix a wrong link without reprinting
  • you want to know which campaigns, cities and devices scan

Questions: QR Code Monkey and QR Code Pro

1

Is QR Code Monkey free?

Its free generator makes static QR codes at no cost, and QR Code Monkey states those codes do not expire and have no scanning limits. The limit is that a static code cannot be edited after it is made. Editable codes and scan statistics sit on its separate professional platform.
2

When is a free static QR code enough?

When the destination will never change and you do not need to know how many people scanned it: a Wi-Fi code, a one-off link on a poster you will not reprint, a personal project. Use a free generator for those.
3

When do I need a dynamic (editable) QR code instead?

When the code is printed on something you cannot easily redo: menus, packaging, signage, vehicle branding, business cards, shop windows. A dynamic code points to a short link you control, so you can change where it goes without reprinting, and each scan is counted.
4

What does QR Code Pro cost?

A 14-day trial with 20 dynamic codes and no card, then paid plans from R99/month for 50 dynamic codes, billed in Rand through PayFast. Full plans are on the pricing page.
5

What happens to my printed codes if I stop paying?

A dynamic code only works while the account is active, because it redirects through our link. If you stop paying the codes stop redirecting. If you will never want to edit or track a code, a static code is the better choice.
6

What happens when the trial ends?

If you do nothing, your dynamic codes stop redirecting when the 14 days end. Your account is kept for a while so you can come back and choose a plan. Pick a plan before you print a large run.
