Setting Up Your Custom Domain

Use your own brand for every QR code scan. Follow this guide to connect a custom subdomain (like qr.yourbrand.com) to your account.

Choose Your Subdomain

We recommend using a dedicated subdomain for your QR codes. This keeps your main website separate while providing a branded experience for users.

Root domains often conflict with your main website hosting.

Add a CNAME Record

Log in to your domain registrar (where you bought your domain, e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare) and find the DNS Settings or DNS Management page.

Add a new record with the following details:

Using Cloudflare?

Make sure the "Proxy status" cloud icon is Orange (Proxied) for best performance, or Grey (DNS Only) if you prefer to manage SSL strictly on our end. Both work!

Verify in Dashboard

Go back to the Domain Settings page in your dashboard.

Enter your full subdomain (e.g., qr.yourcompany.com) in the input field.
Click Save Domain.
Wait for the system to verify the connection.

Note: DNS changes allow up to 48 hours to propagate globally, but typically take effect within 5-10 minutes. If it doesn't work immediately, grab a coffee ☕ and try again in a few minutes.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

It says "Domain not verified"▼

This usually means your DNS records haven't propagated yet. You can check the status of your domain on a site like whatsmydns.net. Select "CNAME" and type your subdomain. If it points to our domain, you just need to wait a bit longer.

My website stopped working!▼

Did you use your root domain (e.g., yourcompany.com) instead of a subdomain? Root domains often conflict with your existing website hosting. Please delete the record and create a subdomain record (like qr) instead.

I changed my domain. Do my printed codes still work?▼

Yes. Your domain is built into each dynamic QR code when you download it, so a printed code always points to the domain it was downloaded with. When you change or remove your domain, the old one moves to Previous Domains on your Custom Domain page and keeps serving those codes. Codes you download afterwards use the new domain.

Keep the DNS record (CNAME) for every domain you have printed. If an old domain's record is deleted or the domain expires, codes printed with it stop scanning. To move an old code to your new domain, download it again and reprint it. Its destination and scan history stay the same.

SSL Certificate Error▼

After you verify your domain, it takes a few moments for us to provision a secure SSL certificate (HTTPS). If you see a security warning, wait 5 minutes and refresh the page. It will resolve automatically.
