What This Guide Helps You Do
This guide shows first-time users how to launch a dynamic QR code correctly, without rework.
You will learn:
- What to prepare before creation.
- How to build a scan-friendly design.
- How to test before print.
- How to verify analytics after launch.
When to Use This
Use this workflow when you need:
- A code you can edit after printing.
- Scan analytics for performance tracking.
- A deployment process that avoids expensive reprints.
Step 1: Plan the Destination Before You Generate
Go to Generator (/generate) and decide the destination type (URL, vCard, PDF, etc.).
Before saving, confirm:
- Destination page is mobile-friendly.
- Link is final enough for launch.
- Tracking parameters are added if you run campaigns.
Example tracking pattern:
?utm_source=qr&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=winter_promo
Step 2: Create a Dynamic Code (Not Static)
Select dynamic behavior so you can update the destination later without replacing printed media.
Dynamic benefits:
- Editable destination after print.
- Scan analytics in dashboard.
- Better operational control during campaigns.
Step 3: Design for Real-World Scannability
Use Design Studio and apply these rules:
- Dark foreground on light background.
- Keep logo centered and not oversized.
- Use clear CTA text on frame (example: "Scan to View Menu").
- Keep quiet zone (empty space) around the code.
Step 4: Test Before Deployment
Do this before any print run:
- Scan with iPhone camera.
- Scan with Android camera/Lens.
- Test from normal lighting and lower lighting.
- Test from expected real-world distance.
- Verify destination load speed.
Step 5: Export and Deploy Correctly
Export format guidance:
- SVG for print and large format.
- PNG for digital use.
Placement guidance:
- Avoid curved or reflective surfaces.
- Keep sufficient size for scan distance.
- Keep CTA near code for higher scan intent.
How to Verify It Is Working After Launch
Go to Dashboard / Analytics and confirm:
- Scans are being recorded.
- Device/location trends look plausible.
- Campaign tags align with expected traffic.
If scans are low, test visibility first before assuming the destination page is the issue.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Printing without multi-device testing.
- Low color contrast.
- Too-small code size for distance.
- Missing tracking parameters.
- Using static codes for changing campaigns.
